One of the most important ways to avoid serious oral health problems is by having a daily routine that will maintain or improve the health of your teeth and gums. Rid your mouth of harmful bacteria and avoid inflammation, infection and disease by eating a healthy diet, getting a good night’s sleep, taking care of your mental health, and having a good oral health routine that includes brushing, flossing, and the use of mouthwash.

Gum disease can occur for many different reasons, but recent studies suggest that those with the following conditions may be more at risk to develop gum issues:
  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Respiratory Disease 
  • Cancer 
There is also research being done to determine if there is any correlation between gum disease and heart disease, memory, and preterm/low birth weight babies.
